Nicholas C. Wasicsko (; May 13, – October 29, )[1] was an American politician from New York and the youngest-ever mayor of Yonkers, New York.[2] As mayor he fought for the desegregation of public housing.
Early life and education
Wasicsko was born May 13, , in Yonkers, to Nicholas and Anne Slota Wasicsko.[1] He was of Slovak descent.[3][4] Wasicsko attended public schools in Yonkers.[5][6] He graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers in [1]
Wasicsko graduated from Manhattan College in with a degree in government and served for a year as a county police officer.[1][5] His father died in [1] In and he served as 7th Ward councilman while simultaneously attending New York Law School, from which he was graduated in , the same year he was elected mayor.[1][6] He was admitted to the bar in New York and Connecticut
